About the Port of Jacksonville

The Port of Jacksonville is one of Florida's most accessible and interesting ports from which to sail. Founded in 1822, but with a history as a settled area that goes back many centuries, Jacksonville's strategic location at the mouth of the St. Johns River has made it northeast Florida's major port city. Now, with Interstates 95 and 10 converging in Jacksonville, cruisers find the city more accessible than ever.

Whether you're looking for activities before or after you set sail, you'll find plenty to do near the Port of Jacksonville. Shopping, good food and entertainment are available day and night at the Jacksonville Landing on the St. Johns. You can see 1,500 animals and 1,000 plant species at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens. If you're a football fan, you'll want to check out the South American-themed The Range of the Jaguar exhibit, designed to honor Jacksonville's NFL team. Beer fans won't want to miss the Budweiser Brewery, which welcomes visitors age 21 and older for tours and tastings.

Nature lovers can visit one of the few remaining tracts of natural coastal wetlands at the Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve which showcases stands of hardwoods, salt marshes and coastal dunes as well as many types of vegetation and animals. For another look at old Florida, drop by the 1798 Kingsley Plantation, the oldest plantation house in the state.
